The pilot programme is off to a flying start with the first two liver transplants taking place on the same day at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and King’s College Hospital London on 15th October 2023.
The Liver Transplant Pilot has been active since August 2021. The cases of 31 patients have been reviewed for liver transplantation. 19 patients have entered the liver transplantation pathway. Two more patients are currently on the liver transplant waiting list with 15 requiring further action before potentially being added to the national liver transplant waiting list.
UK and Ireland NET teams can present eligible patients at the virtual national MDT that takes place every 4th Thursday of the month at 11:00 to 12:00.
Further details are available at the UKINETS ‘bitesize guidance’ web page, which has links to the programme documents, including referral proforma and NCUK’s newly published patient information leaflet for Liver Transplantation in NET patients.
